STEVEN TYLER Doesn't Rule Out 'American Idol' Return

Steven Tyler has told HollywoodLife that he would be willing to come back to "American Idol" as a mentor, seven years after his departure from the show.

"It depends on who's on with me," the AEROSMITH singer said. "I really think that Randy [Jackson] was — maybe people would say he was good for his time. He was great for his time. He was 10 years a leader and then he would walk out, 'Yo dog!' and we'd be sitting there for 8 hours, seeing kid after kid after kid — like 300 kids in Minneapolis auditioning, and you're sitting there like, 'Oh hey!' Some people get dressed up in the car, as a car, other girls, red lipstick and you know. And he made the best of it of some times that weren't so good, but would I do it? Yeah, I'd do it."

Tyler announced his departure from "Idol" in July 2012 after serving as a judge for two seasons on the hit Fox program. The AEROSMITH frontman explained that he wanted to refocus on his music career.

After a successful revival last year, ABC's "American Idol" reboot returned for its second season earlier this month. Ryan Seacrest, who hosted last year as well as all 15 seasons of "American Idol" on Fox, is back as host. Also returning are last year’s trio of judges: country superstar Luke Bryan, pop singer Katy Perry and Motown star Lionel Richie.

AEROSMITH's "Deuces Are Wild" residency begins in Las Vegas on April 6 at the Park MGM. The band will also take the show to the East Coast in August and for three weeks of dates split between National Harbor, Maryland; Atlantic City, New Jersey; and Springfield, Massachusetts at other MGM resorts.
